Holidays in Sardinia

Sardinia is a lovely place to live in, it is the place where you always feel like you are on holiday, as the weather is always on your side. A home in Sardinia is a dream for many people, and for Sardinians like us it means serenity and peace of mind. Wherever we are, the thought that we have a house in Sardinia is the certainty that we can always get by. When the majority of people think of Sardinia, they picture it as a touristy destination, but this is not the case. Sardinia is a place where it is great to spend a holiday, we lack theme parks, however we have some of the most beautiful natural parks of the Mediterranean. Our sea is always fabulous, wherever you go. The colour of the sea displays all the shades from a wide range of colours: from a light pink to a deep blue, from a white diamond to the richest green. Our sea is always crystal clear, always perfect, always clean.

For a Sardinian the sea is part of every day life, in the same way are the stunning landscapes, rolling hills, the blue sky and the warm heat from the sun, which always shines even in the winter time.
I appreciate that to come on Sardinia holidays, to take up a villa, a house or another accommodation Sardinia can be a dream, also because I have visited many places, where there is plenty of other things: jobs, entertainments, schools and museums, but in these places there is a lack of time, which, on the other hand, we have plenty of. In a similar way whether in other places there can be a lack of sunshine, in Sardinia one can find the pleasure of taking a lovely walk whilst caressed by the wind which smells of natural scents, sometimes dipped in an almost surreal silence. One should come to live in West Sardinia, where, for an unknown miracle, no tycoon has invested his/ her millions. Sardinia has retained its natural and ancient beauty.

One can travel for miles without bumping into anyone, only farms, country homes, hamlets, dipped in scents and colours which are always identical and always different. Stone walls or bushes of prickly pears hide fabulous seaside villas, or beautiful holiday homes, dipped in unspoiled nature. In Sardinia we do not waste time, the beautiful mornings are spent by the crystal clear sea, the long warm evenings are dedicated to excursions.
In Sardinia evenings are long, they are interrupted only by the evening snack around 5.30 pm, and they continue until 9 pm. A peculiarity worth noting is that in Sardinia the afternoon it is the time after lunch, afterwards the evening starts, and it ends with dinner, when the night begins. In Sardinia we have dinner only after sunset, which everyday offers an unforgettable display, which varies from the landscape and from the clouds. To have Sardinia holidays means to leave behind one’s own habits, to take up new ones, in particular it means to take a calm, tranquil and quite attitude.

In Sardinia time passes by slowly, it is obvious, because time is required to be able to enjoy so much beauty, and every Sardinian knows this. In Sardinia we work hard, actually, very hard. Our housewives, the same as our farmers, have taught us to work from early mornings, so that we can have the evenings to spare. I do not understand how one can get used to the pressing rhythms of Northern Italy, surely it must be possible, as many Sardinians now live outside Sardinia, but, believe me, if you want a regenerating holiday you can choose a place where everything is catered to make you relax, or, alternatively, you can came to West Sardinia where nature is well equipped to make you relax. Imagine to sit by the sea at sunset, and let yourself be caressed by the light breeze that blows from the sea, with the eyes of your mind charmed by colours of the sun which looks like is diving into the sea which is lit with colours of fire… Leave behind all the worries, you have decided to spend your holiday in Sardinia… no matter what, they will be there waiting for you when you get back.
